First, let me just apologize for my absence over the past year - I do still have plans for this website (afterall I have to keep paying for it every month) but I've just been very busy with work and moving and the like.
Second, I'd like to extend an epic quality /wave to Dave (Dikken) and Dustin (Felony) for resurfacing after a very long hiatus. It is good to hear you're still alive. There are also a few others poking up that I will extend a regular /wave to, you know who you are (that's how you avoid forgetting about people!)
Third, it appears, as Forrest so eloquently put it: "The bi-annual play the wow expansion till you get bored again extravaganza is taking place on Korgath, alliance faction.". So, if you're looking to kill some time, or, if you're a creepy guy like Alan and actually enjoy WoW, feel free to hop in to vent and figure out how you can tag along. Let's circle the drain together! (and by together I mean everyone who is playing WoW because I will never ever^32 play that game again...ever.)
Fourth, if you still need the vent info, feel free to PM me (possibly again...sorry) and I'll give it to you, or you can AIM me : HVC009 because I (unlike some apparently elderly, recently returned members) do not in fact have a Facebook account.

Quick update
No, we're not dead. Still a few people on vent every night playing Heroes of Newerth or some other games (Left4Dead2 currently). I am unfortunately quite busy with work and another website, which will be up by the end of the month, so business is slow but rest assured I am still here and paying for the site even though it's fairly useless right now.
Hopefully in the future something useful will come out, I'll likely purchase the new Starwars MMO and play through it for one full character at least (likely not much more as I'm sure it will be very WoW-like at endgame)
In the mean time, feel free to PM me if you dont have the vent info and feel like stopping by to say hello.

Darkfall Launch...finally.
So the time is finally upon us after so long of a wait. DARKFALL LAUNCH DAY, February 25th. Now, I know everyone has been hearing every type of review of this game from best game ever to biggest pile of useless; personally I really enjoy the game but I guarantee it's not for everyone so be warned before you get it and complain the whole time. It takes a good deal of constitution to put up with the hardships the game throws at you, so if you are pregnant or recently had heart surgery I strongly suggest consulting a physician before playing.
That being said, as usual the private section is chalked full of useful data as well as a general game-plan outline for those of us of whom are planning on playing. If you don't have access to the private forums and plan on playing please PM me or hit me up on AIM.
Also, pre-orders are sold out but more copies will be available on the launch day of the 25th - you can however still pre-download it. If you want a link feel free to ask.
My good friend Deyth from The Combine has registered a new mass forum/media site that will be starting to build slowly over the course of '09. It just launched this Sunday, the 25th, but it's drawing a lot of water from the more well known MMO-PvP community.
Anyways, it may not look like much right now but he's got some big plans for it and a few dollar signs heading its way so I've volunteered to help out and spread the word. On top of that I'll hopefully be running a Darkfall section which will have a large amount of data and videos once the NDA drops and the game finally launches.
The site is Unmoderrated.Info, check it out and register now while the common names are still available!

Launch News
Quick update while I'm home for the holidays and bored out of my skull without a computer that utilizes multiple proccessors and an SLi or Crossfire setup - the nerve!
19. You have announced that Darkfall will be launching January 22nd in the European market. Will North American players be able to purchase and download the game as well?
Yes North American players will be able to purchase and download the game and play on the European server. We've had people playing the game from the West Coast, Western Canada, and for that matter Japan, Korea and Australia without problems.
20. What are your plans for North American servers?
They're right after the European servers, but not soon enough for a lot of players to wait. We don't have a solid date to announce on a N. American server and that's why we're allowing N. American players the option to play on the European server. Ideally we would have loved to be able to launch world-wide but we just don't have the resources to do it right.
That being said, this gives us all (especially the naysayers) a very big opportunity to get feedback on the game before making a solid commitment to it like some of you who have bought and left games in the same month. Those of us who will be playing on the EU servers, or at least myself anyways, will have all the pertinent information for the game (as usual) for inquiring minds.
More news about our plans will be available in the new year but for now enjoy the Holidays and try as hard as you can to pretend you love your gifts even though everything you open will not, unfortunately, be darkfall.
I know that no one will believe me until they are actually playing it but Aventurine announced today that Darkfall will be releasing on January 22nd 2009 in Europe.
What this means for us NA players is two things:
1. For the nay-sayers, you can sit back and wait for the news of whether to buy it or not until it starts up in North America
2. You can try the game out and fuck around without reprocussion since you'll have to start again soon.
3. For people like myself, you can learn every possible thing about the game and have a plethora of knowledge at your disposal for when the NA launch kicks off.
Now let's all pray that Darkfall is in fact a messiah of MMOs and not SB.EXE 2.0

The Great Depression
So, after only two months the game was declared a ghost town and every perspective guild had claimed victory. Personally I feel like we did a great job with time we had, and while I was incredibly disappointed with how the game turned out I had a lot of fun while it was in its prime.
I apologize for the lack of updates to the site, they will resume when I'm back home on the 25th and will be kicked off by a slight revamp and a strong rebuilding of how things work around here. Needless to say there will be news and some of you will probably not like it. This is a rebuild time while we're out of games to play and after the last one it has become very clear to some of us that things need to change drastically around here.
Lastly, I'd like to let people know that we'll be putting up a lot of content closer to the end of the year on the main PLAYTOKILL.COM section that I own which will include a plethora of gaming videos, articles, reviews...etc. If you have any suggestions or things you like/hate let me know. The important thing is that there will be no ads; I'd rather pay out of my pocket than sink to have asian-mmo ads flood my site.
I am sorry to say that I will have very limited time to play AOC for the foreseeable future. The game takes a lot of dedication to reach the higher levels (which I can't spend.) Head coaching my daughter's soccer team as well as my son's team is taking up a lot of my time, not to mention Church obligations that I must attend.
I really am excited to play the game, but unfortunately, this is a game that you can't just "jump into" and pvp. So with that being said, I think my character will remain level 11 until I can find a few hours to sneak in some play time to get him up to at least 12.
The time has come for FA to attempt a move into a new game and as such we will be holding a general guild meeting which will outline many important aspects of the upcoming game Age of Conan and our plans for it. At this time we will be answering any questions pertaining to the game and to other guild activity so if you've got anything you'd like to know about either subject don't hesitate to ask at the appropriate time during the meeting. The guild meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, May 15th at 9pm EST. The game launches May 20th and those who pre-order are allowed to start on the 17th
As always, the meeting is mandatory for members that plan on playing Age of Conan and we hope that everyone will at least try it. If you are unable to attend we request that you let myself or Felony know ahead of time. If anyone outside of the guild would like to attend they are more than welcome provided they do so in an orderly manner.
The current itinerary for discussion is as followed (in not particular order):
- Guild Size and Structure
- Class Setups
- Headcount relative to activity (powergaming vs. casual)
- Gameplay
- PvP mechanics
- Misc. AoC oddities
- Guild Rules and Guidelines
- New and Old members
If for whatever reason you'd like anything addressed by the FA leadership during the meeting please send Felony or myself a private message.
It has come to my attention through the power of the grape vine that Age of Conan will be entering the 'not-so open' beta on May 1st; I use the term 'not-so open' because it appears to be one of those Fileplanet subscriber gimmicks. Regardless, if you're skeptical about it but think it might be worth purchasing (since we'll be moving to AoC as a guild when it launches) then I would suggest spending the $5 on a fileplanet account for a month to try it out. The link is here, but upon further reading it seems it will only allow you to get to level 13 during not-so open beta as it is primarily for a stress test, fairly lame imo.
I know people have heard some conflicting things about the quality of the game but I assure you that every patch makes the game run smoother and become more a worthy investment of both your money and your time; not to mention that many other notable PvP guilds will be open for hunt on the FFA server that will be open at server launch. The details on the loot type and restrictions are still unknown but you will be able to kill anyone you want almost anywhere (the 4 major hubs are exempt like in Shadowbane).
Anyways I'll let everyone know exactly what the situation is as it gets closer to launch but as it stands you can level pretty quick so making whatever class you want is fine by me. As always, if you have any questions about the game you can ask me in vent.
Great new video was released recently showcasing several features that brand new to the public and some even brand new to those of us in the beta. It will bring you through the character creation, an overview of the starting area, the advanced graphics and sound (MMO wise) and ends with a display of what they call a 'social' dungeon crawl which as far as I can tell means that multiple groups will be able to go through it seperately (and/or fight in it) as the mobs will respawn quickly. It is an end game dungeon.
The feed was a bit jumpy when I first watched it so you may want to let it fully buffer before you watch it - it's also quite long. Be aware too that it's from a euro site and also that the devs are euros, while the video is in english you'll find that the commentator kann Englisch nicht sehr gut sprechen as you'll be able to hear (the way he does his S sound is pretty terrible to my english ears).
